Novel foods

 

Foods or food ingredients that were not consumed in the European Union before 1997 may require an approval before they can be sold and used. The very rigid legislation is not always simple to understand and during the last decade a considerable market for novel food ingredients that are still outside the scope of the "novel food" definition has developed.

 

We support clients in developing product profiles and strategies that take full advantage of the leeway of interpretation that the EU food legislation provides without compromising consumer health. Preparation of novel food dossiers and notification documents including safety, justification and exposure are services we regularly provide.
